Works In Progress

Royally Screwed is a 120,000-word count urban fantasy novel based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Forced to be babysat by a family she never knew she had Amira discovers a hidden magical community led by a mother she just met and guarded by her former boss.

The powerful and now the displaced Sanshili tribe of Africa reigned over their land. The tribespeople possessed gifts from the gods — gifts the world has long forgotten. After a revered prophecy, Queen Dafina, ruler of the Sanshili people, was forced to entrust her heir into the arms of her brother and his wife.

For twenty-two years, Amira Preston has been safely hidden in North Carolina. Amira has an established career working side by side, a boss with the face of an angel and temper of a devil. After going through an early mid-life crisis, she quits her job and starts embracing her new freedom until a botched abduction attempt by gun-carrying men outside of her gym. As Amira fears for the worst, she is rescued by the most unlikely of person, her former boss.

Amira is thrust headfirst into a secret society in the heart of Charlotte. Discovering the people closest to her aren’t who they appear to be. Out of fear, Amira is forced to live with a newly discovered family. A family she believes has ties to black magic. The more she learns about her new family, the weirder things become for her. Her unfriendly sister is openly hostile towards her and in a mistaken snatch and grab, and her sister is abducted. Amira learns not only does the Queen have enemies, but those enemies will do whatever it takes to make sure she never steps foot on the throne. Including taking the people closest to her.
